What are some cheaper alternatives to the DJI Phantom video quadcopter?

DJI first came out with Phantom 1. Then, with advancing technology, they came out with the Phantom 2 series. And now the Phantom 3 is here. All Phantom models are great options for quadcopter enthusiasts and are at the top of the market in helping with any photography needs. With a Phantom model, you will have complete control, and each one is easy to use. Not to mention these drones are skilled at flying where other drones cannot. They are frequently rated as the best drones available. However, when you buy a Phantom quadcopter and add all the necessary features, your drone will end up costing you well over a thousand dollars.

If you are on a budget, don’t worry. There are several cheaper alternatives to the DJI Phantom on the market that will provide you with the same features and quality.

Parrot AR. Drone 2.0

The Parrot is arguably the most popular drone on the market and costs about $500. It is a quadcopter equipped with barriers around the propellers to reduce damage to itself and the environment. It has incredible maneuverability, making it fun to fly. The Parrot can get up to about 11mph, and its sensors allow for smooth flying and increased control. The 2.0 also has a camera more enhanced than the original Parrot drone. With the 2.0 you can get in about 20 minutes of flight time, which is a perfect amount of time to try some new turns and get a good look at the view.

Blade 350 QX2 AP

The Blade 350 comes in at about $579. This drone is great for both beginners and experienced drone flyers. It already comes with a camera, two-axis gimbal, and a GPS, so you don’t have to worry about adding on those extra expenses. It has four different flight modes which allow you to keep your drone at a steady position while focusing on capturing the best photos. It has an average flight time of about 10 to 15 minutes, and it can reach speeds up to 40mph. Its speed and payload capacity are actually a bit better than the Phantom 2 model, which makes the Blade 350 a very competitive model.

Walkera QR X350 Pro GPS

This Walkera model is $567. You do have to buy a camera separately from the drone, but this would still be a cheaper alternative to the Phantom drones. Even though the Walkera doesn’t come with a camera, it does come with a two-axis gimbal, which is essential for steady photography and videography. Its battery life is just as impressive as the Phantom 2, giving you about 25 minutes of flight time. Its speed is even more impressive as it can reach up to 45mph (over 10mph faster than the Phantom 2). If you want a durable and efficient camera drone that won’t burn a hole in your pocket, the Walkera QR X350 Pro GPS is a good option.

So while you’re still waiting to save up for that DJI Phantom you’ve always wanted, these three drones can still fulfill all your photography and videography dreams. But at a much cheaper price.
