DJI Inspire 1 Repair
In buying a drone that costs almost $3,000, you want to know that it will be repaired if it gets damaged. Thankfully, whether you have crashed and the arm is cracked and hanging off, or your battery doesn’t function properly, you can have your Inspire 1 repaired or replaced.
Through DJI itself, there is a flow chart for service after you buy your drone.
If you are having issues with the Inspire 1, first call DJI’s after-sales technical support. They will diagnose and confirm the issue, then ask you to fill out a repair form (which is available on DJI’s site). You can then send your product to the repair center where they will test the Inspire 1 to see what needs repair and see if the issue qualifies you to exchange the Inspire or get a refund.
If an exchange or refund is not necessary but the Inspire 1still needs to be fixed, DJI will check the warranty. If everything complies with this policy, then DJI will repair your Inspire 1 for free and deliver it back to you as soon as possible.
If your Inspire 1 does not comply with the warranty policy, then you can either pay for DJI to repair it or just pay for the diagnostics and to have the Inspire 1 sent back to you. To see the warranty service and main parts warranty, go to the DJI site. For main parts on the Inspire 1, the propeller doesn’t have a warranty, but the others do; the camera and gimbal is warrantied for 12 months, the battery for 6 months, and the whole unit for 12 months.
With DJI’s service, most people say it takes maybe four to five weeks for your Inspire 1 to be repaired and sent back to you. But this is really dependent on the type of damage. If the issue you’re having is due to a faulty piece (like a bad remote) then the piece will be exchanged for you, and that should only take about a week, maybe two.
If you have had pretty extensive damage, then you’re probably going to have to wait a while for your repaired drone to come back to you. You might not be able to give up that much time if you’re working on an important project. In this case, you can try to repair your Inspire 1yourself. If you are set on repairing it yourself, you can look up tutorials online for more instructions. Be aware though of how your warranty works. By trying to fix it yourself, you may end up causing more damage, and DJI will then likely not pay for the repair.
There are other options for repair besides going to DJI or doing the repair yourself. Many dealers have a repair team that can fix any amount of damage, and a lot of people prefer different dealers’ customer service over DJI’s customer service. For more information on repair policies and procedures, contact the dealer and ask.
One way or another, you can get your Inspire 1 repaired. Just make sure you know all the details of what is covered.
