Drones on eBay
Just about any droneyou could want can be found on eBay. Tiny drones no bigger than your finger, foam quadcopters for kids, sophisticated camera drones, you name it. The only problem with this is that when you search for drones on eBay, you’re going to get over 5,000 results.
Like with any online shopping site, eBay has a bar on the left-hand side of the page that will help refine your search. You can narrow your search by brand, price, condition, etc. You can also choose what order the items will be listed in. Once you’ve narrowed down your search enough, you can find exactly what you’re looking for.
The biggest caution about buying on eBay, especially when buying expensive items like camera drones, is that a lot of these items are used and so won’t be in perfect, new condition. Trust me, you really don’t want to spend hundreds (or even thousands) of dollars on a drone only to have it break on the first flight. One thing you can do is learn all you can from the listing. If it says anywhere that a piece is broken or there have been issues in the past, don’t buy it. A second thing you can do is look carefully at the picture to see if anything stands out. You can always ask for more pictures if you need them.
A good way to avoid purchasing a broken drone is to just not buy it used. There are plenty of dealers that sell through eBay that have great return policies. So if you buy through them instead and have any complaints, it should be relatively easy to send the drone back. Just make sure you check the return policies before you buy a drone. Another safety tip for buying through eBay is take a good look at the shipping prices to make sure you aren’t overpaying for your drone. The reduced price sold for a used drone can look great until you add a bunch of shipping fees to it.
After finding the type of drone you want, you can decide to either “buy it now”—which is exactly what it sounds like—or you can bid on an item. You don’t get a choice to do one or the other with every item but when you find a drone you like, you can look for someone who is selling it either way.
So is eBay the best place to buy a drone? Probably not. Your best options are places that specialize in drones and that have good deals, policies, and customer service. However, you can find amazing treasures on eBay. Some drones sell for much cheaper prices on eBay than what you’d pay another dealer. And there’s no denying that eBay has an expansive selection.
You’ve probably had your own experiences with eBay or have at least heard stories of other people’s experiences (the good and bad). A bunch of online reviews say they’ve had massive problems getting a refund for items that didn’t work and others say they’ve been using eBay for years and are happy with it. I think it all really comes down to the fact that you have to realize you are taking risks when buying through eBay. But if you’re careful and know how to search, you may end up saving a lot of money and still getting a great drone.
